Welcome to The Beehive

We’re Linda & Steve and we moved to Rome in 1999 with 2 cats and a Swiss Army knife to start our hostel, The Beehive. We have room types to fit a variety of travel styles and budgets: dormitory rooms, “Classic” private rooms with sinks & shared bathrooms, “Sweets” private rooms with ensuite bathroom and AC, and an offsite Annex with private rooms with ensuite bathroom and AC.

Other areas include our courtyard garden where our guests can relax and where we host many events, a vegetarian cafe where we serve breakfast daily as well as weekly family-style dinners and cooking classes, and a cozy lounge for reading and socialising.

Q Dorm Rooms

The Hive - not a party hostel -
We have one 8 bed, mixed gender dorm room and three female only 4 bed dorm rooms. Towel provided free by request. Bed made up for your arrival. Bathrooms are all shared. All beds have personal reading lights and outlets with USB ports. Guests each get an individual locker with a key for small valuables.

Q Private Rooms

Comfort & Style on a budget -
Classic, Sweets and Annex rooms are our three different room types. All rooms have safes for valuables and either ceiling fans or AC, private ensuite bathroom or sink in the room, and can be made up as double beds or singles depending on the room type. Rooms are simple, bright, colourful and cheery with artistic and personal touches. All guests have access to a communal fridge or mini-fridge depending on the room type. Towels and toiletries are provided. Please note that towels & linens are not changed daily.

Q Cafe & Kitchen

The Beehive cafe is vegetarian and mostly organic. We make our own homemade bread and cakes and use organic, free trade coffee. Food is prepped to order and we have a variety of options from muesli, cereal or pastries, to oatmeal, omelettes or tofu scramble. We have a few vegan options and can accommodate gluten intolerant with advance notice. The cafe is open to guests as well as the public. We have limited kitchen use for guests with refrigerator, microwave, kettle, plates, glasses, and cutlery, but no stovetop cooking facilities.

Q Events

Not just a place to stay -
Once a month we hold a popular monthly storytelling event in English. We have donation based, family style dinners twice a week and organize cooking classes. Yoga classes, massage and limited aesthetician services are available by request. We've hosted art and charity events, secondhand clothing markets, blogger meet-ups, tarot readings and much more. We're curious about people and their stories and inspired by the world around us. We want our guests to socialize, but we can't do it alone. It's up to you to decide how social (or not) you choose to be.

Q Ecological and ethical

The Beehive is also an extension of who we are -
As environmentalists, social justice activists and vegetarians, we don't just talk the talk but extend our beliefs into our business. We use eco-friendly cleaning products, recycle, use LED lighting, recycled toilet paper, hand towels & napkins, collect clothes and toiletries to donate to the homeless, support refugee initiatives and much more.

Q Bookings

Our reception closes at 11pm (23:00). We cannot accept late arrivals. Once checked in, you are given keys to come & go as you like.
IMPORTANT: Do not make a reservation if your flight arrives into Rome after 9pm/21:00 as you will not reach us before reception closes. We cannot make arrangements for late arrivals.

In peak seasons we request full payment in advance for stays of 5 nights or more, from groups or reserving multiple rooms.
Reservations are made with a credit card number as guarantee only. Payment is made on arrival.

Q Location

We're two blocks from Rome's central station (Roma Termini), 20 minute walk to the Colosseum or Trevi Fountain, well connected by metro and bus to the entire city.
