eOcambo Hospitality Volunteer Programs – A Helping Hand for Cambodia
eOcambo Hospitality Volunteer Programs is based in Siem Reap, Cambodia, part of our dedicated hospitality group which partners with community organizations who assist underprivileged people. Our role is to bridge the gap between those who need help and those who wish to generously give their time to provide this much needed help.
In the 1970s Cambodia was decimated by the Khmer Rouge which exterminated people with any form of education or special skills. After their fall from power and ten years of Vietnamese occupation of the country in the 1980s, there was no one left to educate the next generation. This created a generational knowledge gap that Cambodia is still recovering from today.
Even now, less than 10 % of the population graduate from high school, and even less can afford any form of higher education. As can be expected, this skills gap has had a knock-on effect which is still felt; there is not enough medical professionals, teachers, engineers, professionals and skilled tradesmen, and so on.
Generous foreigners have helped Cambodia to re-build and people are amazed at the incredible progress made since those dark days, but there is still a long way to go in bringing desperate poverty to an end for all Cambodian people. As Cambodians we believe that our people benefit more by being exposed to ideas and the practical expertise of people from more affluent countries than from donations.
Your skills are worth more to us than your money, teaching skills carries on into the future, money runs out.

WHAT WE DO
eOcambo Hospitality Volunteer Programs focus on helping Cambodian people directly by connecting volunteers with community projects that need people. These organisations often can only undertake programs with the help and support of volunteers.
We look after generous volunteers from the time they land in Siem Reap until we take them back to the airport. Volunteers are given an orientation day, where they will learn about the customs of Cambodia, some Khmer language, and be shown around Siem Reap. We provide volunteers with breakfast and a packed lunch when they are working and also transport to and from their job site.
The safety and comfort of our bighearted volunteers are our priority. We have western volunteer co-ordinators who can answer questions, give advice and manage any problems or cultural misunderstandings our volunteers may encounter.
Our projects cover a range of options, from building houses, toilets and wells, to improving school facilities and teaching English. We are also developing a community center in the village of Bakong, about 20 kms from Siem Reap, where we wish to provide employment skills, English language classes and a range of other sustainable programs designed to help the village people.
WHAT WE DON’T DO
eOcambo Hospitality Volunteer Programs is not a tour company that provides people with vacations or holidays that include a small volunteering element. It is a locally owned company concentrating on improving the lives of the people of Siem Reap province. We are not an NGO or charity, and we do not expect volunteers to pay us the project fees, nor do we charge volunteers for matching them with a project.
